Designer's Note:
A bold marquise pink tourmaline cabochon, hugged by three 18k yellow gold prongs prongs around each point, sits atop a black rhodium-plated band which complements the gem's shape, starting wide and tapering narrow. Oculus openings, a matte finish and a few sprinkled diamonds detail the band. The center stone's high dome and unique inclusions and depth give this ring a mystical quality.
This stone was purchased as part of the initial small buy intended to create a pathway to market for artisanal miners in Zambia to US jewelry designers during the COVID-19 pandemic when their foreign buyers disappeared and miners were left without an income. This initiative went on to become Virtu Gem.
