FAQ
Questions
As the majority of our pieces are made-to-order just for you in New York City by our tiny team, pieces can take up to four weeks to reach you. If you need your piece sooner than that, please visit our ready to ship section, as these items will ship within 5-7 business days. As the pieces vary in complexity and the time they take to create, made-to-order pieces may take less time than the four week period. If you need your piece within a shorter time period, please reach out to us to see if rush delivery is available for your order.
We ship each order by FedEx two day delivery. Each shipment is insured but will require a signature in order to be delivered. A tracking number will be provided for each shipment.
Yes, we do and love our international clientele! An $80 flat fee will apply for international shipments. Customs fees and taxes will be the responsibility of the customer. Unfortunately, these fees are decided by the receiving country’s government, and there is nothing we can do to avoid or control them.
If you purchased your piece from one of our retail partners, please contact them directly, and they will get back to you with the answer!
To keep your jewelry clean, we recommend that you remove your jewelry for washing your hands, showering, swimming and sleeping, as well as for cooking, housework, gardening and exercising. Our matte finishes can scratch with contact and wear and tear, and prongs can become loosened with impact and cause tiny diamonds to fall out, for example. Compounds such as soap and lotion can easily get trapped in our oculus open spaces, as well as underneath gemstones. It is best to avoid spraying perfume or applying lotion directly near your jewelry, as exposure to chemicals can change the color of porous gemstones such as turquoise and opal. Even gemstones as hard as diamonds can chip if not handled with care.
Gold pieces: We recommend gently soaking your pieces in a small bowl with warm water and clear, unscented soap. If needed, you may use a very soft-bristled toothbrush to gently scrub as desired. We do not recommend polishing cloths and dips as they deposit residue onto the metal.
Oxidized and black rhodium-plated pieces: These darkened finishes are created by hand and may vary slightly from piece to piece, and they will fade with time and wear and tear, as they are affected by impact, moisture, and oils in the skin. We love that their color develops with time and becomes a part of your unique story, but in order to keep these pieces in pristine condition, be sure to keep them dry. We will reoxidize pieces if needed free of charge for the first six months of ownership, although shipping each way will be the responsibility of the customer. Following the first six months of ownership, we will happily reoxidize pieces for a fee of $20 per piece. Do not use any silver cleaning compounds unless you want to remove the oxidized finish.
We recommend you contact us if your Dana Bronfman jewelry needs repair. Depending on the nature of the repair and the method of damage, a fee may apply for the repair.
We offer one complementary resizing on bridal rings, excluding eternity bands, which cannot be resized. You are responsible for shipping each way if the ring needs resizing after you receive the piece. Please note, after resizing or customization of any type, items are final sale.
If your piece has enough space for an engraving, we will engrave it for you free of charge. Please leave your desired engraved message in the comments when you check out your order.
We accept returns within fourteen days of your order reaching you, provided the piece(s) remains unworn, in its original condition and packaging. If you would like to return a piece, please contact hello@danabronfman.com with RETURN in the subject line. We will provide you our address, and your piece, minus the shipping cost of delivery and return, will be refunded after your returned piece is received, inspected and processed.
We will also accept exchanges or provide a store credit on items that meet returnable conditions above within fourteen days of your order delivery.
Yes! We love creating meaningful pieces for you, and one of our favorite things to do is repurpose your family pieces and items or items you no longer wear, provided they are at least 14K gold and genuine gemstones, and redesign them into pieces you will wear. We can also make custom items from scratch or personalize most items within our catalog. Please complete this questionnaire* to let us know a little more about your desired custom project. Please note, our minimum for all custom work is $1500, and we will turn away projects that are not within our design aesthetic.
Custom projects can take from approximately four to eight weeks to complete, but this time can vary depending on the complexity of design, whether we will be sourcing stones for you, and the swiftness of design and gemstone consensus.
Additional Questions
We source and work exclusively with natural diamonds and gemstones, at least for now and for the foreseeable future.
Gold has been being recycled for a very long time due to its high value, for economic reasons rather than environmental reasons. Also due to its high value, illicit and illegal actors continue to and will continue to mine gold and use toxic chemical substances in order to do so, which affects the planet and its people’s health in a harmful way. Fairmined is a label applied to gold from organized small-scale artisanal gold mines that meet the highest level of ethics and sustainability in the world. It creates beneficiation for the local communities and either excludes toxic substances or teaches miners to handle and dispose of it in a way that does not harm people or the environment. We consider fairmined gold an investment in a world where gold is mined responsibly, allowing people to live in harmony with the planet, allowing miners to make a living wage without poisoning themselves and the ecosystem that affects us all.
While recycled gold may be an environmentally sustainable choice, it excludes the millions who depend on artisanal and small-scale mining around the world. Fairmined gold develops the small-scale mining sector into a more sustainable model where the community and planet can thrive. Most pieces in our signature collections currently consist of recycled gold. Select pieces from our signature collection, plus our one-of-a-kind, colored gemstone, and bridal collections consist of fairmined certified gold.
