Melting Persistence Brooch

Melting Persistence Brooch

Salvador Dalí’s “The Persistence of Memory” surrealist painting of melting clocks forms the main inspiration for this painting. The piece’s waviness and “oculus” circular open spaces represent time slipping away. The shape of the piece alludes to a wing, a leaf, and bird, allowing us to hold grief for what we have lost and will continue to lose in nature, as well as have hope for what we can heal and rebuild together.

This piece was designed for the Reciprocity exhibition of New York City Jewelry Week at the Consulate of Peru.

The blues and greens of the colors of these stones represent the colors of nature and the Earth from a distance.
